DETDA ,chemical full name as Diethyltoluene diamine , is a steric aromatic diamines. It was first produced by Albemarle Company in the United States, and the brand is Ethacure 100 . DETDA 80 is the brand name of Lonza in Europe . Now China become the third largest manufacturer of DETDA .   

DETDA is used as chain extender for reacting injection molded polyurethanes, curing agent for polyurethane coatings, epoxy resins and alkyd resins. And ,it can used in pesticides, dye intermediates, plastics, rubber and oil antioxidants too.

In particular, it is used for casting polyurethane elastomer, and spraying polyurea system, which has the advantages of fast reaction speed, short demoulding time, high initial strength, hydrolysis resistance, heat resistance, environmental protection and non-toxic.

DETDA as curing agent has more advantages compared to TDA and MOCA .

The activity of DETDA is much lower than toluene diamine (TDA). The reaction rate of DETDA and NCO is several times faster than DMTDA, about 30 times faster than MOCA, and non-toxic substances volatilization, mainly used in the field of polyurethane RIM process. The curing speed of DMTDA is much slower than that of DETDA, and can be mixed with DETDA in different ratios to adjust the curing speed to meet different needs.
